PM Modi Commences 45-Hour Meditation at Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated a 45-hour meditation session at the respected Vivekananda Rock Memorial in the serene town of Kanyakumari following the conclusion of Lok Sabha election campaigning.
Upon his arrival in the city, the Prime Minister first paid his respects at the Bhagavathy Amman Temple before proceeding to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial.
Modi is set to meditate from Thursday evening until the evening of June 1 at Dhyan Mandapam, the location where revered Hindu philosopher Swami Vivekananda supposedly had a divine vision of ‘Bharat Mata‘.
Tight security measures are in place during Modi’s visit, with 2,000 police personnel deployed for his stay. Additionally, the Indian Coast Guard and the Indian Navy are maintaining a vigilant watch.
The beach area has also been closed to the public from Thursday to Saturday, and private boat services are suspended, as reported by PTI.
Modi’s visit to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial has drawn controversy, with the Congress alleging that his 45-hour meditation period is an attempt to circumvent the silence period restrictions. The party has lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission against the same.
Campaigning for the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections in 57 constituencies ended on Thursday evening. The voting is scheduled in various states and Union territories, including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chandigarh.
Since the announcement of the election schedule, Modi has engaged in a total of 206 public outreach programs, rallies, and roadshows, surpassing his previous public engagements during the 2019 polls.
