Inside Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia: A Look at One of the World’s Most Luxurious Homes
Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries and India’s richest individual, resides in a residence named Antilia, a name shared with a mythical island in the Atlantic Ocean. The building, situated in Mumbai, stands as the second most expensive residential property globally, only surpassed by Buckingham Palace in terms of valuation.
Antilia is a structure spanning 27 floors and has a valuation estimated to be between $1 billion and $2 billion according to market experts. The skyscraper took two years to construct, with work beginning in 2008 and concluding in 2010. Known for its resilience, the structure is designed to withstand an earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale.
The Ambani family, including Mukesh Ambani, his wife Nita Ambani, their children Akash Ambani and his wife Shloka Mehta, reside on the 27th floor of Antilia. Nita Ambani, who is credited with the idea of living on the top floor, chose this level to maximize natural sunlight and ventilation. Access to this floor is highly restricted, with entry limited to only a select few.
Spectacular features of Antilia include a multi-level car park, nine high-speed elevators, health spa, salon, three swimming pools, yoga and dance studios, and even a private cinema. One of its highlights is the hanging garden, which is maintained daily, offering a unique aspect of nature within a modern high-rise.
The maintenance of Antilia is handled by a team of approximately 600 staff members, who ensure the upkeep of the building and accommodate the needs of at least 27 floors. Moreover, the building is decorated extensively with materials and designs that showcase Indian aesthetics and craftsmanship, reflecting a blend of traditional and contemporary styles.
Adding to the uniqueness of Antilia is its height, which, although comprising 27 storeys, is equivalent to a standard 60-storey building due to its high ceilings and grand design.
