Lorenzo Musetti Andrey Rublev Atp Tour

HANGZHOU, China — The ATP Tour kicks off its 2025 Asian swing this week, showcasing top talent in two separate tournaments. Lorenzo Musetti and Andrey Rublev are featuring in the ATP 250 events, while Carlos Alcaraz competes at the Laver Cup in San Francisco.

The Asian tour opens on Wednesday with the Lynk & Co Hangzhou Open and the Chengdu Open, spanning from September 19-21. Musetti, currently ranked No. 9 globally, aims to solidify his chances for the year-end finals with a strong showing in Hangzhou. He claimed the semi-final spot last year and seeks his third ATP title this week.

“Winning here would be great for my confidence and my chance at qualifying for Turin,” Musetti said ahead of the tournament. He leads a competitive field that includes former Top 10 players and #NextGenATP stars.

In Chengdu, Shang Juncheng looks to defend his title as the first Chinese player to win on home soil last year. The 20-year-old hopes to overcome injury struggles that have limited him to just five tournaments this season. “I have the support of local fans, which really boosts my morale,” Shang mentioned.

Rublev, the top seed in Hangzhou, needs to improve his ranking to secure a sixth consecutive appearance at the year-end championships. He is currently 11th in the ATP standings and faces a qualifier in his opening match.

Meanwhile, a new chapter begins at the Laver Cup this weekend. Carlos Alcaraz makes his return as the top-ranked player, leading Team Europe. He previously made a mark at the event, contributing significantly to Team Europe’s success last year.

“Competing as No. 1 will be a huge motivation for me,” Alcaraz stated. Team World is captained by John McEnroe, with Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur as key players.

As players gear up for high-stakes matches across these prestigious events, fans can expect an exciting week of tennis.
