New Maritime Internet Service 'welcome' Launched By Elcome International

Elcome International, a key player in maritime technology, has introduced a groundbreaking pay-as-you-go satellite internet service named WELCOME for ships and offshore installations. This innovative service is built on Starlink‘s global maritime offering, providing high-speed, low-latency internet access without fixed monthly fees.

The service, designed primarily for crew and passengers, allows individuals to purchase data bundles or monthly subscriptions starting at just US$3. Data can be bought using various payment methods such as international and regional credit cards, online wallets, and more.

WELCOME is accessible worldwide in international waters and the territorial waters of 70 countries, offering up to 350 Mbps bandwidth and an average latency below 99ms. Elcome’s senior connectivity manager, Asneed Ameer, expressed excitement about the launch, emphasizing the service’s potential to revolutionize connectivity at sea.

Elcome is also providing a unique incentive by offering a free Starlink flat high-performance kit to eligible customers. This kit enables crews to enjoy the WELCOME service without any upfront investment or fixed monthly costs, enhancing accessibility for maritime personnel.

Flexibility is a key feature of the service, allowing crew members to use purchased data on one WELCOME-equipped vessel and seamlessly transfer it to another vessel. This mobility ensures continuous connectivity for crew members moving between ships.

Over the past year, Elcome has deployed nearly 1,500 maritime Starlink terminals and aims to deploy thousands more in 2024. The service has already garnered a customer base comprising prominent names in commercial maritime, oil and gas, defense, yachting, ferry, and cruise industries. The introduction of WELCOME marks a significant advancement in maritime internet services, promising enhanced connectivity for maritime personnel across diverse sectors.
