LOS ANGELES, CA20th Century Studios has unveiled a new trailer for “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” the highly anticipated third installment in James Cameron‘s “Avatar” series. The film is set to release on December 19, 2025.

The trailer highlights the return of Jake Sully, played by Sam Worthington, and his family as they face off against a rival Na’vi tribe on Pandora. The film promises intense battles, showcasing the struggle between Jake’s clan and their new enemies.

Along with Worthington, the returning cast includes Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Bailey Bass, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion, and Edie Falco. New additions include Michelle Yeoh, Oona Chaplin, and David Thewlis, who will portray characters making their debut in the series.

The first “Avatar” film, released in 2009, broke records to become the highest grossing film of all time, raking in over $2.9 billion worldwide. Its sequel, “Avatar: The Way of Water,” released in 2022, continued that success with a box office gross of $2.3 billion, making it the third highest-grossing film ever.

Cameron has noted that the technology used for the films, particularly in motion capture and CGI, has evolved significantly since the 90s, when he first started developing the “Avatar” concept. The special effects are created by Weta Workshop, known for their pioneering work in filmmaking technology.

A fourth “Avatar” film is already scheduled for a 2029 release, followed by a fifth installment planned for 2031. As the series continues to expand, fans eagerly await the latest developments.
