Nintendo Switch 2 Leaks Surface at CES 2025
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo’s highly anticipated next-generation console, has become the center of attention at CES 2025, thanks to leaks from accessory manufacturer Genki. The company showcased mockups and accessories for the unannounced console, revealing potential design changes and features, including a May 2025 release date.
Genki’s booth at CES featured a detailed animation of the Switch 2, highlighting magnetically attached Joy-Con controllers and a more durable kickstand. The company also confirmed the existence of an optical sensor, fueling speculation that the Joy-Cons could double as a mouse-like input device. A Genki representative stated, “I didn’t expect this much media attention, to be honest,” acknowledging the buzz surrounding their mockup.
The mockup aligns with previous leaks, including CAD renders from September 2024, which suggested a “magnetic slide rail” for Joy-Con attachment. According to Genki, the new console measures 10.5 inches wide, 4.5 inches tall, and features an 8-inch screen, making it slightly larger than the current Switch OLED model. The representative also noted that while the Switch 2 may fit into older docks, certain indentations could prevent full compatibility.
Nintendo has yet to officially confirm any details about the Switch 2, though the company has promised to discuss its next-gen console before the end of March 2025. Analysts speculate that the leaks may indicate an imminent announcement, as the gaming community eagerly awaits official confirmation.
For now, the leaks from CES provide a tantalizing glimpse into what could be Nintendo’s next big innovation in gaming hardware.
