Nurse Murdered On Her Way Home In Uttarakhand

A tragic incident has unfolded in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district where a nurse was reportedly raped and murdered while returning home from work. The gruesome event took place about two weeks ago, and police arrested a suspect on August 14.

The victim, who worked at a private hospital in Nainital, was last seen on July 30 when she was heading home. Sadly, her body was found in an empty plot in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh. The local police were alerted about her disappearance the very next day by her sister, who filed a missing person’s report.

It took about a week before authorities discovered the nurse’s body on August 8. According to a police spokesperson, the accused has been identified as Dharmendra Kumar, a daily wage laborer from Bareilly. Reports indicate that he allegedly attacked the nurse after seeing her walk alone.

The police stated that after overpowering her in a secluded area, Kumar sexually assaulted her and then strangled her to death. In a disturbing twist, he also robbed her of her belongings before fleeing the scene. The investigation led the police to track her mobile phone, which they eventually found in Rajasthan.

The police revealed that the accused, who is reportedly a drug addict, did not know the victim prior to the incident. They managed to gather evidence through CCTV footage and other means, which allowed them to apprehend him in Rajasthan.

This incident comes on the heels of another shocking case where a young doctor was raped and murdered in Kolkata on August 9, raising significant concerns about the safety of healthcare workers.
