Philadelphia Subway Shooting Leaves 14-Year-Old Injured, Three Arrested

PHILADELPHIA – A 14-year-old boy was shot on a subway platform near Temple University Saturday night, prompting the arrest of three individuals.

The shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. on the southbound platform of the Cecil B. Moore Station on the Broad Street Line, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

Video from the scene showed officers responding near Temple’s Morgan Hall. Police reported that the boy was shot twice in the hip and leg area. They found several shell casings and a magazine at the location but did not locate a firearm.

Inspector D.F. Pace of the Philadelphia Police Department stated that investigators utilized SEPTA security cameras to identify three suspects believed to be involved in the shooting. Police arrested the individuals near the area shortly after the incident, and it is believed that the main shooter is among them.

First responders transported the injured boy to a hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

As of now, the identities of the victim and the suspects have not been released. Pace added that the arrested individuals are likely “juveniles or very young adults.” The reasons behind the shooting remain unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
