Plusnet Outage: Thousands of Users Experience Internet Issues
Thousands of Plusnet users across the UK experienced internet connectivity issues on Monday afternoon, leaving them unable to get online. Reports of problems with the internet service provider (ISP) began pouring in at the end of the working day, triggering widespread frustration among customers. DownDetector, a tracking website, recorded a significant number of complaints from various regions in the country.
Some users identified that the outage appeared to be linked to Plusnet’s DNS servers, which enable computers to locate websites and connect to servers for retrieving information. While the issue persisted, users seeking a temporary solution found success in switching to alternative DNS services such as those provided by Google. However, Plusnet cautioned users to proceed with caution when making these changes and to ensure they are proficient in altering operating system settings.
At the time of publication, Plusnet had not addressed the outage on its social media channels and had not responded to requests for clarification from The Independent. The ISP does operate a help page where users can submit complaints about service issues. Plusnet, which is owned by BT, has faced similar outages in the past but has not provided an estimated time for the restoration of services.
