Police Arrest Labour Party National Chairman Julius Abure Over Alleged Attempted Murder

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have apprehended Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, in connection to accusations of premeditated attempted murder.

The arrest of Abure in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, came following a formal complaint lodged by Eragbe Anselm Aphimia, the Youth Leader of the Labour Party.

In the petition addressed to the Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Aphimia detailed a violent incident that occurred where he and a colleague were ambushed and assaulted by a gang of armed individuals.

Aphimia narrated that the attack was orchestrated as part of a larger plan to disrupt the Party’s activities in Edo State, implicating Abure and Kelly Ogbaloi as the masterminds behind the violent episode.

He further alleged that the ambush was strategically coordinated, with specific mentions of political motivations behind the assault, pointing to a larger scheme to thwart the Party’s organizational efforts.

The petition also outlined the demands for immediate action, including the arrest of all individuals involved in the attack, freezing of financial assets of the prime suspects, and thorough investigations into the criminal activities.

Aphimia emphasized the need for accountability and justice, calling for swift prosecution of Abure, Ogbaloi, and their collaborators to uphold the rule of law.
