Rain Can’t Dampen Spirits at Oceans Calling Music Festival in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Rain failed to dampen the energy at the Oceans Calling Music Festival on Saturday night, September 27. A light shower greeted festivalgoers as they enjoyed performances by Noah Kahan, Vampire Weekend, and Good Charlotte. Despite the weather, fans sang along under the clouds.
Sammi Schwartz and Hazel Reed, attendees at the festival, initially felt the rain was a “total mood killer,” but quickly transformed the experience into a dance party once the music began.
The good vibes continued into Sunday, September 28, with Fall Out Boy, Train, and Weezer set to take the stage, alongside several other artists. The festival, held outdoors along Ocean City‘s historic Boardwalk and nearby beach, promises another day of lively performances.
Saturday’s schedule featured headliners like Green Day, O.A.R., and Lenny Kravitz. With rain expected on Day 2, organizers urged festivalgoers to dress accordingly with raincoats and waterproof shoes. However, umbrellas and tents remain prohibited to ensure safety and visibility during performances.
Just as Natasha Bedingfield took the stage, a steady rain began around 2:45 p.m. Known for her hit “Unwritten,” Bedingfield encouraged the crowd to embrace the rain. As the first notes of the song played, attendees eagerly joined her in singing, celebrating the moment despite being soaked.
Cher Gunzer, attending the festival from Phoenix with her family, expressed her enjoyment of the event. Cher and her husband, Randy, appreciated the rain as a break from the heat and loved the camaraderie typical of music festivals.
“I love music festivals because you get so many different types of music,” Randy said, highlighting their positive experience. The couple discovered new artist Izzy Escobar and plans to follow her music after the festival.
Meanwhile, Mica Rivera drew attention with her hotdog costume, promoting a food vendor at the festival. Rivera, who traveled from Georgia, emphasized the importance of spreading good energy among festivalgoers.
As Day 2 got underway at noon, the historic Boardwalk filled with attendees ready for more live music. While some bus stops were inactive during the festival, shuttles remained available to transport visitors throughout Ocean City.
Despite the clouds, the festival atmosphere remains vibrant, with attendees excited for another day of unforgettable performances.
