Rauw Alejandro Launches New Album Before South American Tour

San Juan, Puerto Rico — Rauw Alejandro has released his latest studio album, “Cosa Nuestra: Capítulo 0,” ahead of his Latin American tour, which starts on October 13 in Chile. This album serves as a prequel to his previous album, “Cosa Nuestra,” released last fall.

In an interview with Billboard, Rauw described the new album as a deep dive into Caribbean culture, contrasting it with the elegant, glamor-inspired sound of his 2024 album. He emphasized that “Capítulo 0” is all about the Caribbean, stating, “There is so much inspiration from the music of Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Haiti. I believe we are one nation. The Caribbean shares the same blood—we are Indigenous, African, and Spanish; that is our race.”

The 14-track album features traditional bomba and plena rhythms with songs like “Carita linda” and “Caribeño.” For the first time, he includes a bachata track titled “Silencio,” which was written and produced by Romeo Santos. Additionally, the album concludes with three new salsa songs, including the sultry “Callejón de los secretos” featuring Mon Laferte.

Fans can also expect Rauw’s signature reggae and R&B style in tracks such as “Buenos términos,” “Nostalgia de otoño,” and “Contrabando.” Notably, the album contains the hit song “Santa,” featuring Rvssian and Ayra Starr, which was released in 2024.

Rauw began working on “Cosa Nuestra: Capítulo 0” in 2023. He mentioned that the work allows him to create fresh music while remaining in the same era and character of his artistic journey. “The meaning of ‘Cosa Nuestra’ is so big that I would have to release 20 albums to explain its concept. There isn’t enough time to do it all in one album,” he joked.

He added, “I will continue bringing my roots to the world. Nowadays, I feel very connected with my people, and I am very proud of where I come from. I don’t need to look outside when I have everything here.”
