Reddit Faces International Outages, Users Report Access Issues

NEW YORK, NY — Reddit is currently experiencing significant international outages, according to NetBlocks, a global internet monitoring service. This incident has led to an uptick in reports of accessibility issues across various regions, including major cities in India and the United States.

As of late Thursday evening, Reddit encountered a peak of approximately 56,000 outage reports at 7:27 PM ET, as documented by Downdetector. These reports reflect difficulties users faced when attempting to access the platform, with many taking to social media to share their experiences.

NetBlocks clarified that the outages are “not related to country-level internet disruptions or filtering,” suggesting that the issues may stem from problems within Reddit’s infrastructure rather than regional internet blockages.

Multiple users reported trouble with posting comments, uploading profile pictures, and managing their feeds. Issues have been particularly prevalent in cities such as Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Dallas, Denver, and Los Angeles. “I am unable to access Reddit; the app just wouldn’t load any posts,” a user from Los Angeles shared online.

Despite widespread reports, some users reported no problems at all. One user noted, “Reddit seemed to function normally for me in both my logged-in account and in incognito mode.” This discrepancy highlights the sporadic nature of the outages.

Reddit’s status page indicated no reported incidents as of Thursday, raising questions about the extent of the disruptions. As of now, the company has not provided an official response to the outage reports. Users are encouraged to document any connectivity issues, which could assist Reddit’s technical team in diagnosing and repairing the underlying problems.
