Washington D.c. Weather Thunderstorms

WASHINGTON – Warm and humid weather is expected in the Washington, D.C. region on Tuesday, with highs reaching the mid-80s and the possibility of showers and thunderstorms later in the day.

According to FOX 5‘s Taylor Grenda, a trough moving through the area will create unstable conditions by mid-afternoon and into the evening, leading to isolated storms especially around the evening commute.

The region is under a marginal risk for severe weather, where heavy downpours are anticipated. Residents are advised to keep their umbrellas handy as temperatures remain above average and humidity levels stay high throughout the day.

While most regions may remain dry, areas could still experience heavy rain. 7News First Alert Meteorologist Eileen Whelan mentioned, “We could see a quarter- to half-inch of rain.”

As the week progresses, rain chances will continue, with scattered showers expected on Wednesday evening and again on Thursday. Wednesday’s temperatures are predicted to hover around 80 degrees, and the humidity will persist.

Whelan added, “Thursday will be the most active weather day this week with rain and storms likely, possibly leading to isolated flooding with a risk for flash flooding.”

Weather conditions are expected to improve by Friday, with a decrease in rain chances, allowing for drier and warmer conditions by the weekend.
