Senator Warren Questions Corporate Donations to Trump’s White House Projects
Washington, D.C. — Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is voicing concerns over corporate donations funding President Donald Trump’s lavish projects in the White House. On Sunday, Warren posted on X, highlighting tech giants Amazon.com Inc., Alphabet Inc., Apple Inc., and Meta Platforms Inc. for financially supporting Trump’s expensive ballroom set to replace the East Wing, recently demolished.
Warren alleged that these donations could indicate corporate bribery, stating, “They’re not donating to Trump’s ballroom out of the goodness of their hearts. It sure looks like bribery.” She raised the question of what these corporate donors anticipate in return, asserting that she has launched an investigation into what she describes as “potential corruption” linked to the funding.
The companies mentioned by Warren have not yet responded to Benzinga’s request for comment. This situation is expected to evolve as further information becomes available.
In recent months, Warren has repeatedly criticized the administration for corruption and corporate bribery. She first drew attention to this issue regarding Brazilian meat processing company JBS SA, which had the largest contribution to Trump’s inauguration fund at $5 million, despite its troubled history.
Warren’s scrutiny has also extended to Paramount Global, accusing the company of “bribery in plain sight” related to Trump’s Presidential Library. This criticism comes amid Paramount’s merger with Skydance, which depends on government approval.
Additionally, Trump faced backlash for accepting a donation from Apple CEO Tim Cook earlier this year, shortly before alleviating tariffs on semiconductors and chips for the company.
