Severe Weather Hits Phoenix: Flash Flood and Thunderstorm Warnings Issued
PHOENIX, Arizona — Today is declared an ABC15 Weather Action Day as a significant storm system moves through the Valley, bringing heavy rain and lightning.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Glendale, Peoria, and Surprise until 1:30 PM MST. This warning alerts residents to the potential for flooding due to heavy rainfall.
In addition to the flood warning, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for portions of Yavapai County, including Congress, Peeples Valley, Hawkins, Piedmont, Walnut Grove, and Yarnell. This warning is set to last until 10:45 AM MST.
Another Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Wittmann and Beardsley, expiring at 10:30 AM MST.
As rain continues to fall across parts of the state, the Arizona Department of Transportation encourages drivers to be cautious. They advise checking windshield wipers, slowing down for wet conditions, and avoiding driving through pooling water.
