Shark Attack Reported On South Padre Island During Fourth Of July Celebrations

Reports surfaced on social media from South Padre Island, Tex on Thursday, July 4, regarding shark attacks that marred the Fourth of July celebrations.

The incident, confirmed by the Associated Press, involved a severe shark bite on a man at 11 a.m., said South Padre Island City Secretary, Nikki Soto. Immediate treatment was provided by the fire and police departments on the beach before the victim was transported to a hospital.

A photo of the attack was sent to KGNS by a viewer, although it remains unconfirmed if it is the same incident reported by the Associated Press.

Currently, the South Padre Island Beach Patrol, fire, and police departments are actively patrolling the shoreline and employing drones in monitoring the situation closely.

Authorities are on high alert as they continue to monitor the shoreline for any further potential threats.
