San Jose, California — The San Jose Sharks announced today that they have signed forward Jeff Skinner to a one-year contract worth $3 million. The 33-year-old Skinner, who previously played for the Edmonton Oilers, is coming off a season in which he recorded 29 points, including 16 goals and 13 assists, in 72 games.

Skinner had a notable 2024-25 season, finishing sixth in goals and seventh in points among Oilers forwards. He also participated in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in his career, contributing two points in five games as Edmonton reached the finals.

Over his 15-year NHL career, Skinner has accumulated a total of 699 points, comprised of 373 goals and 326 assists, across 1,078 games. He began his professional career with the Carolina Hurricanes, where he played from 2010 to 2018 before stints with the Buffalo Sabres and lastly the Oilers.

Skinner’s best statistical season came in 2022-23 when he tallied career-highs of 82 points and 47 assists over 79 games. He also achieved the impressive milestone of his 1,000th NHL game on April 2, 2024, making him the first player from the 2010 NHL Draft to reach that number.

In addition to his regular season accomplishments, Skinner is a two-time NHL All-Star and won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league’s top rookie in 2010-11. His international play includes representing Canada at the IIHF World Championship, helping the team earn a silver medal in 2017.

The Sharks have been active in the offseason, adding several players to bolster their lineup as they look to improve after a challenging season. Skinner joins new teammates including Adam Gaudette and Ryan Reaves as the Sharks aim to rejuvenate their roster.
