Simone Biles Faces Misinformation After Charlie Kirk’s Death
Orem, Utah – Olympic champion Simone Biles found herself at the center of a misinformation storm following the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Kirk was killed on September 10, 2025, during a live event at Utah Valley University.
In the days that followed, false claims circulated online, alleging that Biles had posted a blog mocking Kirk’s past comments about her. Fact-checkers quickly debunked the rumors, confirming that Biles did not make any such statements.
The rumors appeared shortly after Kirk was shot, suggesting that Biles had finally spoken out against him. These claims were traced back to a Facebook page in Vietnam that featured an AI-generated article rather than any legitimate source. The fabricated post gained traction on social media, leading many to presume that Biles had reacted to Kirk’s death.
In July 2021, Kirk criticized Biles when she withdrew from events at the Tokyo Olympics, citing mental health concerns. He described her as “selfish” and “weak.” Biles, who has advocated for mental health awareness, stood firm without responding directly to Kirk’s attacks.
Years later, in June 2025, Kirk again targeted Biles over her support for transgender athletes, calling her names like “choke artist.” While Kirk continued to provoke Biles, she focused on her own training and personal life, maintaining silence on his comments.
Fact-checks confirmed on September 19, 2025, that Biles never wrote the blog attributed to her. “The story is completely false,” said a spokesperson. Biles, who is concentrating on her gymnastics career and upcoming competitions, has not addressed the misinformation.
