New York, NY — Former US Open champion Sloane Stephens is embracing a new chapter as a broadcaster during the 2025 US Open. The 32-year-old athlete, who has not won a singles match since Wimbledon 2024, is finding renewed energy behind the microphone, providing insights on the sport she once dominated.

Stephens’ journey into broadcasting began last year with the Tennis Channel, where she worked alongside veteran analysts Tracy Austin and Paul Annacone. This experience opened doors, leading to her expanded role with TNT Sports at the 2025 French Open, where she teamed up with legends Andre Agassi and Venus Williams. Now at the US Open, Stephens has found her commentary role reshaping her perspective on tennis.

In an Instagram Q&A, she shared how analyzing matches in real time has given her a different lens on the sport. “Honestly, commentary has given me a whole new lens on tennis,” Stephens said. “As a player, you’re so locked into your own preparation that you don’t always see the broader story unfolding.”

Through her commentary, Stephens has gained a deeper appreciation for mental battles and the tactical adjustments that can change a match’s outcome. “It’s made me appreciate the mental side of the game even more. I try to bring honesty, insight, and respect to every match I call,” she added.

Despite her focus on broadcasting, Stephens is not stepping away from competition. She is preparing for a return to action in Guadalajara, practicing on the US Open courts in the early morning. “Yes, I’ve been hitting every morning before work, most days from 7-9am,” she stated.

As she balances her time between commentary and training, the tennis community watches closely to see if her new insights from the booth can help her regain her competitive edge. With a storied career including a 2017 US Open title and a career-high ranking of No. 3, Stephens remains a compelling figure in the sport.
