Snack Recall Alert: Allergens Not Declared in Popular Products

CHICAGO, Illinois — ZB Importing LLC has issued a voluntary recall of several snack products sold across 35 states due to undeclared allergens. The recall, announced on February 18, includes six varieties of Ülker snack rolls, biscuits, and wafers that contain wheat, eggs, and milk, which are not listed on the ingredient labels.
The action was taken after a consumer reported experiencing an allergic reaction due to the consumption of these products. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), reactions to food allergies can range from mild symptoms such as hives and swelling to severe, life-threatening conditions known as anaphylaxis.
The recalled products are widely distributed in states including Alabama, California, Texas, and New York, as well as in Ontario, Canada. The affected items include:
- Ülker Kekstra Mini with Strawberry
- Ülker Rulokat Hazelnut Wafers
- Ülker Dankek Roll Cake with Strawberry
- Ülker Biskrem with Cocoa Biscuit
- Ülker Dankek Roll Cake with Chocolate
- Ülker Dankek Roll Cake with Banana
“The issue originated from a supplier who inadvertently failed to fully disclose all allergens while translating the ingredient list,” ZB Importing LLC stated. The company is cooperating with the supplier to enhance labeling processes, including introducing additional verification for multilingual labels.
The FDA has emphasized the importance of clear labeling to protect consumers, particularly those with food allergies. They are working with ZB Importing LLC to implement stricter labeling controls to prevent future incidents.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled Ülker products are encouraged to return them to the point of purchase for a full refund. For any questions or concerns, they can contact ZB Importing LLC directly.
Food allergic reactions can pose significant health risks, highlighting the critical necessity for accurate ingredient labeling. The FDA classifies wheat, eggs, and milk as among the nine major allergens that must be declared to ensure consumer safety.
