Special Prosecutor in Trump Case Disobeys Court Order in his Divorce; Allegations of Affair with DA Emerge
In a surprising turn of events, Nathan Wade, one of the lead prosecutors in the case against former President Donald Trump, has found himself entangled in legal trouble of his own. Wade, who recently faced allegations of having an affair with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, was held in contempt for defying a court order in his divorce proceedings. The court ruled that Wade had willfully failed to submit documents related to his income, including earnings from his work on the Trump case.
The allegations of Wade’s affair with Willis came to light when a lawyer for one of Trump’s co-defendants, Mike Roman, filed court documents accusing Wade and Willis of having a clandestine romantic relationship. The lawyer also alleged that Wade and Willis used Wade’s earnings from the Trump case to go on vacations together. These allegations have caused a significant upheaval in the ongoing Trump prosecution.
Amidst the controversy, it was revealed that Wade had previously been held in contempt for failing to comply with a court order in his divorce proceedings with his wife, Jocelyn Wade. The court had ordered him to provide financial documents, but Wade had inadequately responded. Eventually, he was found in willful contempt of the court’s directive.
Wade’s divorce proceedings had been ongoing for over two years, during which he had been working as a special prosecutor in the Trump case. He has earned nearly $700,000 from the Fulton County District Attorney’s office for his involvement in the high-profile case.
While the allegations of the affair between Wade and Willis have yet to be substantiated, they have caused significant turmoil in the Trump case. The judge presiding over the case has announced that he will hold a hearing to address the allegations, but legal experts believe that the case is unlikely to be dismissed as a result.
The developments in Wade’s divorce proceedings shed light on his past defiance of court orders and raise questions about his suitability as a special prosecutor in such a high-stakes case. The divorce documents, which have since been sealed, reveal a history of non-compliance and disputes over financial disclosure.
As the allegations continue to reverberate, Trump’s lawyer, Steve Sadow, expressed caution in joining the call for Willis’ disqualification. However, the district attorney may still be called as a witness in Wade’s divorce proceedings, further complicating the already tangled web of connections in the case.
