Stars Shine at Wuhan Open, Opening Matches Canceled

WUHAN, China – The Wuhan Open kicked off on October 5, 2025, with a players’ welcome party ahead of the year’s final WTA 1000 tournament. Romanian players Jaqueline Cristian and Sorana Cîrstea are representing their country in this prestigious event.
On the eve of the tournament, players gathered to celebrate before starting their matches. Sorana Cîrstea, who is set to face Jelena Ostapenko in the first round, mingled with fellow athletes including Donna Vekic and Belinda Bencic, who attended with her daughter. Notable attendees included Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek, rising star Mirra Andreeva, British player Emma Răducanu, and Elena Rybakina, who has had a tough season.
