Aaron Rodgers Pittsburgh Steelers Injury

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a hand injury late in the first half of their Week 11 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The injury occurred as he was hit while attempting a pass intended for Kenneth Gainwell.

Rodgers took a hard hit in Bengals territory on the Steelers’ final drive of the second quarter. Joseph Ossai was penalized for roughing the passer on the play, but on the next snap, Rodgers appeared to injure his left hand and was seen favoring it as he left the field at halftime.

Soon after, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin informed CBS broadcast that Rodgers was being evaluated for the injury and that backup Mason Rudolph was being prepared to take over. Steelers senior director of communications Burt Lauten later confirmed that Rodgers was questionable to return.

During his time in the game, Rodgers completed 9 of 15 passes for 116 yards and one touchdown. The 41-year-old veteran had a strong season so far, with 1,853 yards, 18 touchdowns and a 66.8 percent completion rate.

In addition to the injury scare, this season marked the first time Rodgers has not missed any games due to injury. His left hand injury adds uncertainty as Rudolph stepped in, marking his first significant playing time of the season. Rudolph’s first drive resulted in a field goal, extending the Steelers’ lead to 10-6 as they entered halftime.

The Steelers and Bengals match carries significant weight in the AFC North standings, making this situation even more critical for Pittsburgh. Rudolph, who returned to the Steelers after spending time with the Tennessee Titans, is hoping to provide the spark needed for the team’s offense.

Rodgers’ injury is the second hand injury concern this season. He previously showed signs of discomfort during a game against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9. Rookie quarterback Will Howard is also available but can only enter in case of an emergency.
