Thanksgiving 2025 Grocery Store Hours

MIAMI, FL — As Thanksgiving approaches, many families wonder which stores will be open for last-minute ingredient purchases. Thanksgiving 2025 falls on November 27, and while many major retailers will close their doors, several grocery stores and pharmacies will remain accessible but with modified hours.

In recent years, Thanksgiving has become one of the biggest commercial closure days in the U.S., especially as many retailers have opted to close entirely or limit hours. In 2025, popular chains like Walmart, Target, Costco, and Publix will close on Thanksgiving Day to allow employees to spend time with their families.

However, some stores will operate on reduced schedules. Kroger and its affiliates (like Ralphs and Fred Meyer) will be open until 4:00 p.m., while Whole Foods Market will welcome customers from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sprouts Farmers Market will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Discount retailers such as Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar will also open their doors, although their hours may vary by location. For instance, Dollar Tree will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Pharmacies will largely remain closed on Thanksgiving. Some CVS stores may operate from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and select Walgreens locations will only have 24-hour branches available, often with limited services.

To minimize holiday stress, families are encouraged to plan their shopping trips ahead of time and check the operational hours of local stores before heading out. In cities with large Hispanic populations, such as Miami and Los Angeles, store hours may fluctuate due to holiday traffic.

Overall, while many retailers will be closed, a variety of grocery, discount, and pharmacy options will be available for those who plan ahead.
