Tamil Nadu BJP Wishes CM MK Stalin in Mandarin Amid China Rocket Ad Controversy
The political landscape in Tamil Nadu witnessed an unusual turn as the Tamil Nadu BJP extended birthday wishes to Chief Minister MK Stalin in Mandarin amidst the controversy surrounding the Chinese rocket advertisement by the DMK-led government. The BJP’s creative gesture was a response to the recent newspaper ad that featured a Chinese flag alongside rockets from other countries in the backdrop of a significant event at the ISRO‘s launch pad complex in Kulsekarapatinam.
During his visit to Tirunelveli, Prime Minister Narendra Modi seized the opportunity to criticize the DMK administration for the advertisement misstep. PM Modi accused the ruling party of attempting to inaccurately claim credit for the ISRO launch pad by including the Chinese flag, challenging the party’s integrity and respect for national achievements.
DMK MP Kanimozhi defended the advertisement error by questioning the portrayal of China as an adversary, citing past diplomatic engagements between India and China, including Xi Jinping‘s visit to India at PM Modi’s invitation. Kanimozhi’s remarks aimed to contextualize the situation within the realm of international relations and bilateral ties.
However, the Tamil Nadu BJP took a more light-hearted approach by wishing CM MK Stalin a happy birthday in his self-proclaimed favorite language, Mandarin. The playful gesture added a touch of humor to the ongoing political debate surrounding the inadvertent inclusion of the Chinese flag in the newspaper advertisement.
Minister Anitha Radhakrishnan from the DMK acknowledged the mistake and attributed it to an oversight by the ad design team. Radhakrishnan’s acceptance of the error highlighted a commitment to transparency and accountability within the party, emphasizing that the inclusion of the Chinese flag was unintentional.
