Tdp And Janasena Announce Alliance For Andhra Pradesh Assembly Polls With First List Of Candidates

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the JanaSena Party (JSP) unveiled their first list of candidates for the upcoming Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. The alliance, led by N. Chandrababu Naidu, announced a total of 118 candidates, with the TDP fielding 94 contenders and the JanaSena Party putting forth 24 candidates.

Among the notable candidates in the TDP list are N. Chandrababu Naidu, who will be contesting in Kuppam, and his son Nara Lokesh from Mangalagiri. On the other hand, JSP’s political affairs committee chairman, Nadendla Manohar, will be contesting in Tenali, and former minister Konathala Ramakrishna will be running from Anakapalli.

Addressing the press conference, N. Chandrababu Naidu described the TDP-JSP alliance as a historic necessity to challenge the rule of the YSR Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh. The alliance aims to work for the welfare of the people and bring about positive change in the state.

The TDP revealed 94 of the 118 candidates in its list, with 23 newcomers. Naidu emphasized that the seat allocation was done with the potential inclusion of the BJP in mind, indicating space for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the alliance.

While detailing the candidate selection process, Naidu mentioned that feedback from 1.33 crore individuals helped in finalizing the list. The candidates were chosen based on their connection with the public, approval ratings, and ability to face the electoral challenges ahead.

JSP chief Pawan Kalyan expressed the importance of taking a smaller number of seats to focus on the broader goal of steering the state in the right direction. The alliance, inclusive of the three Lok Sabha seats, is equivalent to contesting around 40 Assembly seats.

Looking ahead, discussions with the BJP for a potential pre-poll alliance are ongoing, as the parties explore collaborative strategies for the upcoming elections. The final seat-sharing arrangements for the remaining constituencies are expected to be announced soon.
