Tel Aviv Attacked: Six Dead, Nine Injured in Terror Incident
JERUSALEM — At least six individuals have been confirmed dead and nine others injured following a suspected terror attack involving both shooting and stabbing in the Tel Aviv area on Tuesday, according to Israeli police. The incident, which unfolded in the vicinity of the city’s light rail system, involved two alleged assailants who commenced their attack onboard before continuing on foot. They were eventually neutralized by civilians and inspectors equipped with personal firearms.
The Israeli Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, identified the attackers as Palestinians hailing from the West Bank city of Hebron. In a statement, Smotrich expressed his intentions to press the cabinet for the deportation of the suspects’ families to Gaza and for the demolition of their homes, although no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Amid the chaos, Iran simultaneously launched a series of missiles towards Israel, marking a significant escalation in the region. The timing of the missile barrage appeared to coincide with the unfolding attack, further intensifying tensions. Israeli emergency services, including Magen David Adom (MDA), received notification at 7:01 p.m. local time about casualties resulting from gunfire.
The attack was captured on television, depicting the assailants disembarking from a light rail station before engaging in the fatal gunfire. Medics and paramedics quickly arrived on the scene, administering urgent care to several victims, some of whom were found unconscious. The wounded sustained various degrees of injuries.
This event is reported amidst heightened alertness in the region, with tensions between Israel and Iran-backed groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas reaching new heights. The situation remains fluid, with authorities and emergency services on full alert as the investigation continues.
