Measles Cases El Paso County Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – El Paso County Public Health confirmed a third measles case on Monday evening. Health officials report that the resident likely contracted the virus at Denver International Airport on May 14, following two previous cases confirmed on Sunday.

The first two infected individuals were unvaccinated, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and El Paso County Public Health. Symptoms of measles include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a distinctive rash that typically begins on the face and spreads thereafter.

Officials urge anyone who visited the following locations during specified times to monitor for symptoms for 21 days: Maverick Gas Station, 2588 Airport Road, Colorado Springs; King Soopers, 1750 W. Uintah Street, Colorado Springs; and Single Barrel Bar and Grill, 5885 Stetson Hills Blvd. #120, Colorado Springs.

If individuals develop symptoms and visited these locations during the exposure window, they should contact their healthcare provider immediately. Those who do not have a provider should call an urgent care center or emergency department and should mention potential measles exposure.

The two initial cases, along with the latest confirmation, raise the total number of associated cases to seven, including four passengers aboard a flight linked to the virus.
