TikTok Users Create Digital Tombstones to Reflect on App Usage

NEW YORK, N.Y. — As uncertainty looms over TikTok‘s future in the U.S., longtime users are turning to a quirky new website called TikTok Graveyard to reflect on their app usage. The platform generates personalized digital tombstones displaying fun statistics about users’ activity, from videos watched to hours spent scrolling.
The feature, reminiscent of Spotify Wrapped, allows users to download their TikTok data and upload it to the website. The resulting tombstone includes details like the number of videos liked, their “best friend” on the app, and the total hours of “time lost forever.” Each tombstone also features the TikTok logo, the user’s handle, and a date range from their account creation to January 2025.
“I got my TikTok wrapped. That’s so many hours,” wrote TikTok user @emily.scholten, sharing her tombstone on social media. The tombstones also include humorous epitaphs such as “They went viral once” or “They watched ‘one more video’ for five hours straight.”
To access their data, users must navigate to TikTok’s app settings, request a JSON file containing their activity, and upload it to TikTok Graveyard. The website then processes the information and generates the tombstone, which can be shared across social media platforms.
While the feature has sparked amusement and nostalgia among users, it also highlights the significant time many have invested in the app. As TikTok faces potential bans or restrictions in the U.S., the digital tombstones serve as both a celebration and a critique of the platform’s cultural impact.
