Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim Write Horror Film That Shocks
Los Angeles, CA — Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, the alternative comedy duo behind Adult Swim‘s “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” have announced they are venturing into horror. At the premiere of their new project “Him” on Wednesday, Heidecker revealed they are writing a horror script that could redefine shocking content.
“We’re actually writing a horror movie that is going to be much sicker than most people are going to want to watch,” said Heidecker when asked about future “Tim and Eric” projects. This statement highlights the duo’s reputation for pushing boundaries with their irreverent humor.
While Heidecker shared little information about the horror film’s plot or tone, he expressed uncertainty about the project’s future, stating, “We’ll see if it gets made.” This vagueness is typical of their creative approach, reflecting both anticipation and apprehension.
Heidecker’s interest in the horror genre is emerging, as he has already acted in related films. In “Him,” directed by Justin Tipping, he plays the agent of the quarterback protagonist. He also appeared in Jordan Peele‘s critically-acclaimed film “Us” in 2019, which showcases his range in genres beyond comedy.
Despite his expanding filmography, Heidecker admits he is not an avid horror fan. “I’m not a big horror fanatic, but when they’re really well done and when they have a message or they have something to say, I always appreciate that,” he explained.
This new film represents the duo’s second feature film, following their 2012 release, “Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie.” The shift also mirrors a trend where comedians successfully transition into horror filmmaking, seen in the works of Peele and Zach Cregger.
