Toronto Humane Society Reduces Prices To Promote Pet Training And Behaviour Services

Toronto Humane Society has announced a significant reduction in prices for their pet training and behavior services, aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership and strengthening the human-animal bond. The move comes as part of an effort to make professional pet training more accessible to the community.

In a recent evaluation by the Toronto Humane Society’s Public Training and Behaviour Services team, group training and private consultation prices were slashed by about 50% of the average market value. This reduction is in line with the Society’s commitment to ensuring that cost is not a barrier to pet parents seeking evidence-based training from certified animal trainers.

The revised pricing structure also includes subsidized rates for pet parents facing financial difficulties, further expanding the reach of the program. Additionally, the Society has increased its training class offerings and capacity to accommodate a growing demand for their services.

Since the price reduction initiative was implemented in late 2023, there has been a notable surge in the number of families benefiting from the Toronto Humane Society’s Training and Behaviour Services program. The program reported serving 178 families with a total of 489 appointments by February 2024, indicating a substantial increase in participation and engagement.

One success story from the program involved a dog named Homer, who struggled with leash reactivity towards other dogs. Through positive reinforcement training techniques, Homer was able to overcome his fear and improve his behavior significantly, showcasing the effectiveness of the Society’s training methods.

By breaking down financial barriers to pet training, the Toronto Humane Society aims to empower pet owners to take an active role in their pets’ behavioral development. This approach not only benefits individual pets and families but also fosters a more compassionate and knowledgeable community of pet guardians.

The Society advocates for a relationship built on care, trust, and positive reinforcement between pets and their owners. By making training more affordable and accessible, they hope to create a supportive environment where both pets and their human companions can thrive together.
