Toronto Transit Service Resumes After Morning Commute Delays
Toronto transit riders experienced morning commute disruptions as an incident on the tracks led to the temporary closure of service along Line 2 and delays at St. George Station. The incident, which occurred at Ossington Station, resulted in the suspension of trains between Keele and St. George stations. Overcrowding at St. George Station also caused Line 1 Yonge-University trains to bypass the station. The disruptions prompted the TTC to arrange shuttle buses as an alternative to regular service on Line 2.
The disruption lasted for several hours, causing significant delays during the busy morning rush. However, the TTC announced just after 8:30 a.m. that regular service had been restored on Line 2 and at St. George Station on both lines. This news came as a relief to frustrated commuters who had taken to social media to express their concerns about the lack of information provided.
The TTC responded by stating that regular updates were posted on their social media accounts, websites, and through announcements on trains throughout the morning. Despite these efforts, some passengers felt that more could have been done to keep them informed about the situation.
