NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) — A shooting at Antioch High School on Wednesday morning left two students injured and the shooter with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD). The incident occurred in the school’s cafeteria, prompting an immediate lockdown and police response.

MNPD confirmed that the shooter, a student, fired at two classmates before turning the gun on themselves. The injured students were rushed to a local hospital, while the shooter was also treated for their wounds. Authorities have stated that the situation is now contained, and the shooter is no longer a threat.

“Antioch High School is on a lockdown due to shots being fired inside the school building. Metro Police are on the scene. The person responsible for shooting is no longer a threat,” Metro Schools announced on social media. “We will be gathering students in the auditorium and will provide information on reunification as soon as possible.”

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has joined the investigation, which remains active. School officials and law enforcement are working to reunite students with their families and provide updates as more information becomes available.
