Comcast Cable Line Damage East Marginal Way Tukwila

TUKWILA, Wash. — Vandals intentionally damaged a Comcast cable line Tuesday, causing widespread service outages for Xfinity and Comcast Business customers across several South King County communities, including Burien, Kent, Normandy Park, Renton, SeaTac, Skyway, and Tukwila.

The damaged cable, located along East Marginal Way in Tukwila, disrupted internet and business services for thousands of customers. An Xfinity retail store in Renton was also forced to temporarily close, with customers redirected to the Tukwila location.

Comcast network maintenance crews identified the damage as intentional and significant, requiring additional safety measures before repairs could begin. “Once our technicians have safe access, they will replace the damaged lines and restore service as soon as possible, which is our top priority,” a Comcast spokesperson said in a statement.

The company urged the public to report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement. This incident follows a pattern of similar vandalism targeting Comcast infrastructure in Western Washington. In May 2024, cable lines in Kitsap County were damaged, affecting customers in Bainbridge Island, Hansville, Indianola, Kingston, Poulsbo, Silverdale, and Suquamish. Another incident in early April 2024 disrupted services in Tacoma and Pierce County.

Comcast advised affected customers to check for updates on outages or service issues at their website or through the Xfinity app. The company has not yet provided an estimated timeline for full service restoration.
