Walmart Kroger Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Recall

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ready-to-eat chicken fettuccine Alfredo meals sold at Walmart and Kroger are being recalled due to a listeria outbreak that has resulted in 17 illnesses, including three deaths and one fetal loss. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is managing the situation, which affects 13 states.

The outbreak strain of listeria has been detected in ill individuals from August 2024 to May 2025. FSIS noted that this specific strain was found during routine testing at a FreshRealm facility in March. Investigators are still working to determine whether a specific ingredient in the chicken fettuccine Alfredo is the source of the outbreak.

FreshRealm, the Texas-based company responsible for the products, sold meals under the Marketside brand at Walmart and the Home Chef brand at Kroger. The recalled items include varieties of chicken fettuccine Alfredo with establishment numbers Est. P-50784, Est. P-47770, and Est. P-47718 visible on their labels.

FSIS has expressed concern that these recalled products may still be in consumers’ freezers. They advise customers not to consume them and to either discard the meals or return them to the place of purchase. This action was taken as a precautionary measure after public health officials found contamination in a routine product sample.

Consumption of listeria-contaminated food can lead to listeriosis, an infection marked by symptoms such as high fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal problems. The disease poses serious risks, especially for pregnant women, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems, potentially leading to miscarriages and severe health issues.

FSIS emphasizes the importance of cooking premade meals to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure the safety of the food. They recommend using a food thermometer to check.

Anyone who experiences flu-like symptoms within two months after consuming the affected food should seek medical attention and inform their healthcare provider. For inquiries regarding the recall, FreshRealm’s customer service can be reached at 888-244-1562.
