Walmart Great Value Chicken Broth Recall Packaging

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Walmart has recalled more than 12,000 cartons of Great Value Family Size Chicken Broth due to packaging defects that could cause spoilage, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced. The recall, initiated on Dec. 11, 2024, affects products sold in 242 stores across nine Southern states.

The recalled 48-ounce cartons, marked with a “best used by” date of March 25, 2026, and a UPC code of 007874206684, were distributed in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. A total of 2,023 cases, each containing six cartons, are included in the recall.

“The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority,” a Walmart spokesperson said in a statement. “As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we took action to remove all impacted product from the select, impacted stores. We are continuing to work with the supplier to investigate.”

Customers who purchased the affected product are advised to discard it and can request a full refund from Walmart. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.

The FDA stated that the packaging issues could compromise the broth’s quality, potentially leading to spoilage. Walmart has urged consumers to check their purchases and return any affected items to stores for a refund.
