ARLINGTON, Texas — The Washington Commanders have activated former New England Patriots defensive back Jon Jones for their upcoming game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, after he spent four games on injured reserve.

The Commanders restored Jones to their active roster Saturday, making him eligible to play for the first time this season, following an injury sustained during Washington’s second game.

Jones, who joined the Commanders as a free agent in the offseason, signed a contract worth $2.5 million and includes $4.5 million guaranteed. He was brought on board to add veteran depth in the secondary and bolster the special teams.

In his first two games with Washington, Jones participated in 22 defensive snaps and 21 special-teams plays. The Commanders will face the Cowboys at 3:25 p.m. CDT at AT&T Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Las Vegas Raiders also made moves, elevating wide receiver Kobe Jackson from their practice squad, making him eligible for their game against the Kansas City Chiefs at noon Sunday. Jackson, a former Hoover High School standout, will play in his sixth NFL game.

Indianapolis Colts running back Ameer Abdullah was signed to the active roster after a brief practice-squad stint. Abdullah has contributed in prior games with 13 yards and a touchdown. The Colts will play the Los Angeles Chargers at 3:05 p.m. CDT Sunday.

On the other side, Alabama players Calvin Ridley and Trevon Diggs will not be active for their respective games. Ridley is sidelined due to a hamstring injury while Diggs is in concussion protocol.

Cowboys rookie guard Tyler Booker is expected to return for Sunday’s match-up, which coach Brian Schottenheimer sees as a much-needed boost against the Commanders’ strong defensive front.

The Washington Commanders have a record of 3-3 after their recent loss, while the Cowboys hold a 2-3-1 record following a loss to the Carolina Panthers, making this an important game for both teams.
