Miami, Florida – A water slide on Royal Caribbean‘s Icon of the Seas experienced a malfunction Thursday, injuring an adult guest. The incident occurred as the guest was using the slide, and an acrylic glass panel broke off, leading to the injury.

The individual, whose condition is reported as stable, received medical attention immediately after the incident. A spokesperson for Royal Caribbean Group stated, “Our team provided medical care to an adult guest when acrylic glass broke off a water slide as the guest passed through the slide.”

Details on the severity of the guest’s injuries or their identity have not been disclosed by officials. In response to the incident, Royal Caribbean announced that the water slide has been closed for the remainder of the sailing journey.

An investigation into the malfunction of the slide is currently underway. Royal Caribbean assured guests that they are taking the matter seriously, emphasizing their commitment to safety.

This incident comes as the Icon of the Seas, noted as the largest cruise ship in the world, continues its operations in the Caribbean, having docked at Costa Maya Cruise Port in Mexico just earlier this year.
