Woman Shot in Ewa Beach, Suspect Found Dead in Vehicle

EWA BEACH, Hawaii — A woman identified as Francesca Kelso, 24, was shot multiple times in Ewa Beach Tuesday night, prompting an attempted murder investigation by Honolulu police.

The incident occurred around 8:09 p.m. at the parking lot of Kapilina Beach Homes on Iroquois Avenue. According to police, a dispute between Kelso and an ex-roommate escalated when the 31-year-old male suspect brandished a long gun and fired multiple rounds.

Honolulu police reported that Kelso managed to flee into a secured area but suffered serious wounds to her leg and torso. Emergency Medical Services provided advanced life support and transported her to an emergency room in serious condition.

Kelso remains in critical condition at The Queen’s Medical Center-Punchbowl. Her family stated that she is recovering well and is now in stable condition.

Tragically, the suspect was found in his vehicle at the scene with what appeared to be a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officials pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Police have confirmed that the suspect and victim were previously acquainted. They are encouraging anyone with information about the shooting to call 911 or submit an anonymous tip to CrimeStoppers at (808) 955-8300.
