Kenny Chesney Launches Spectacular Las Vegas Residency at Sphere

Las Vegas, Nevada – Kenny Chesney kicked off his highly anticipated 15-date residency at the Sphere on Thursday night, May 22. The four-time Country Music Association Awards entertainer of the year is making history as the first country artist to perform at the immersive venue.
Over a vibrant two-hour and 15-minute concert, Chesney treated fans to a 27-song set. Much of the music celebrated the island lifestyle that defines his devoted fanbase, known as No Shoes Nation. According to Billboard Boxscore, Chesney is the only country artist to surpass $1 billion in concert grosses reported to Billboard.
Chesney’s fans have followed him into sold-out stadiums for two decades. His show at the Sphere, which holds 18,000 people, offered a more intimate experience despite the venue’s steep layout. During the performance, Chesney expressed his excitement about his first Las Vegas residency and gratitude toward his fans. He acknowledged that this concert was his first show of 2025.
Known for his engaging stadium performances, Chesney had to adapt to the Sphere’s setup, which limited his ability to reach out to fans. However, he connected with the audience by palm slapping those in the front section, branded The Sandbar.
Chesney, who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in March, has amassed 33 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart since it began in 1990. His first No. 1, “She’s Got It All,” came in 1997. His latest chart-topper, “Take Her Home,” was released last year.
Fans could anticipate a mix of hits and deeper cuts, making for a unique concert experience. The residency continues through June 21 and features all 15 shows at the Sphere.
Before the opening night, Chesney shared his enthusiasm for the production, stating, “You can’t truly imagine it. It is a whole other world, and I can’t wait for the people who’ve loved this music so intensely to experience this.” In addition to his extensive discography, he hinted at possible special guest appearances, raising excitement for the remaining shows.
