Storms Force Delays at CMA Fest in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Severe storms have led to the suspension of all outdoor stages at CMA Fest, causing festival organizers to urge attendees to seek shelter immediately.
The announcement was made around 3:10 p.m. on June 6, as dark clouds and potential thunderstorms approached the Music City. The CMA Fest team advised concert-goers to head to Fan Fair X located inside the Music City Center for safety.
“With more inclement weather expected this evening, Nissan Stadium and Ascend Amphitheater gates will experience a delay in opening by at least 90 minutes,” CMA Fest stated. Users are encouraged to stay updated via the CMA Connect mobile app.
Earlier in the day, the festival announced that outdoor stages would remain closed while their weather team monitored lightning activity within an 8-mile radius. According to CMA Fest, a pause is enforced after any lightning strike for a 30-minute period.
As of 1:12 p.m., the festival reported that outdoor gates would reopen at 1:30 p.m. with music planned to resume at 2 p.m., weather permitting. “Please enter calmly and stay weather aware as we continue to monitor conditions,” they cautioned.
Festival-goers were also informed via text to find shelter away from the stages and that updates regarding schedule and lineup adjustments would be provided.
CMA Fest continues to showcase a stellar lineup, with anticipated performances later today from artists like Midland and Keith Urban. The festival is actively managing the situation as severe weather continues to threaten the area.
