Philadelphia Forecast: Sunny Start to Fall With Rain Ahead
PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia area can expect a warm and sunny Monday before transitioning to a more unsettled weather pattern later in the week.
Meteorologist Grant Gilmore predicts that summer will end on a pleasant note, with temperatures on Sunday reaching the mid-70s under clear skies. Monday morning will start off mostly clear to partly cloudy, with temperatures ranging from the mid-50s to the upper 40s in surrounding areas like Lehigh Valley.
As fall officially arrives at 2:19 p.m. on Monday, conditions are expected to feel less fall-like, with highs approaching 80 degrees under mostly sunny skies. However, the unseasonably warm weather won’t last long. Tuesday, the first full day of fall, could see temperatures rising even higher into the mid-80s.
A cold front moving in from the northwest may bring scattered showers and storms by Tuesday evening. In addition, beachgoers at the Jersey Shore and Delaware Beaches are advised to be cautious of rip currents and dangerous surf, which could continue even as swells from a distant system persist.
Throughout the week, a chance of rain is forecasted from Wednesday through Saturday. While no significant rain events are expected, it is advisable for residents to keep umbrellas handy.
Currently, the region is approximately 2 inches below average for rainfall this month. Although the showers expected this week may be minimal, ongoing dry conditions are anticipated to worsen without substantial rain.
Temperature forecasts for the week include highs of 80 degrees on Monday, 84 degrees with late-day storms on Tuesday, and a gradual drop to 74 degrees by Thursday, with continued chances of rain through the weekend.
