God Of War Kratos Egyptian Sword

LOS ANGELES, CA — A new installment of the God of War series is reportedly in the works, featuring Kratos wielding a curved sword inspired by ancient Egyptian weaponry. The announcement comes from Tom Henderson during a recent episode of the Insider Gaming podcast, where he discussed upcoming titles expected to be showcased at the upcoming State of Play event.

Henderson indicated that the new game would have Kratos equipped with a weapon reminiscent of the scimitar seen in the Prince of Persia series. ‘Kratos this time has… it’s like an Egyptian sword, you know, like a curved Egyptian sword,’ he said, raising anticipation for the next chapter in the franchise.

The details shared by Henderson also imply that there may be another project in development; a smaller-scale metroidvania game focused on Kratos’s backstory and relationship with his father. This spin-off reportedly aims to explore themes similar to those in the mainline series.

Insider reports beginning back in March suggested the smaller God of War title could be scheduled for release soon, with elements reflecting both God of War’s signature style and influence from the acclaimed Metroidvania game, Blasphemous.

Jason Schreier, another industry insider, hinted at the potential uniqueness of this upcoming title on ResetEra forums. He mentioned that while it’s not entirely a new IP, it might feel fresh to players, adding to the intrigue surrounding its announcement.

Both Sony and Santa Monica Studio have yet to confirm the details of these titles officially, although speculation continues to mount. Fans excited for Kratos’s next adventure will likely see more clarity at the State of Play event, which is rumored to be happening imminently.
