Regina Hall Mammogram Experience Podcast

Los Angeles, CA — Actress Regina Hall shared her thoughts on the uncomfortable process of mammograms during an episode of Amy Poehler’s podcast on September 23.

During the candid conversation, both women poked fun at the awkwardness of the breast cancer screenings. Hall, 54, reflected on her own experience, saying, “One time when I got a mammogram, I turned to the person and I was like, ‘It’s shocking how this hasn’t gotten better.’”

Poehler agreed, humorously adding, “How do we still have to literally squeeze our boobs?” Hall jokingly quipped in response, “And I don’t have a lot of boobs. I was like, what are you getting?”

The actresses described the examination process, with Poehler explaining, “We’re squeezing it between two metal…” and Hall interjected, “Like a waffle. And then they’re like, ‘If you just move your arm a little…’”

Poehler also expressed gratitude for having access to quality care but noted the lack of comfort in the environment. “Not a poster on the wall. No art to look at,” she remarked, suggesting that an inspirational poster would be a welcome addition to the sterile setting.

“There’s no sound. There’s no music,” Hall added, emphasizing the eerie quiet during the screening.

Both women emphasized the need for improvement in the mammogram experience, with Hall humorously stating, “My breasts gave up!” as she reflected on the difficulties faced during the procedure.

“They squeeze you in the tightest vice ever,” Hall said. “And then they leave the room because there’s too much radiation. It’s just you, your nodes, and your breast and the rest of your body exposed and contorted.”
