Snowbirds Air Show San Francisco 2025

SAN FRANCISCO, California — The Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds were the main attraction during the 2025 Fleet Week, taking place over the city’s waterfront on Saturday. This year’s event has seen a notable change, as the U.S. military is absent due to a government shutdown.

Despite the absence of familiar favorites like the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels, many spectators still gathered to enjoy the air show. ‘This is the biggest party in San Francisco the whole year,’ said Glenda McGovern from Healdsburg.

The Marina Green was filled with families and friends looking to take in the spectacle, even if the turnout was smaller than in previous years. ‘We are here with the kids, having a good time. I don’t know what it’s going to be without the Blue Angels,’ said Juan Mendoza from Richmond.

The Snowbirds put on a thrilling display with daring maneuvering and formations that left spectators amazed. ‘It’s really awesome. We didn’t expect it to be like this. Spectacular!’ said Tina Chung from Pleasanton.

Local businesses felt the impact of the scaled-back festivities. ‘Right now, business is slow. Usually, this time last year, we had a big line of people coming by for food,’ said Charlie Islas from Cochinita Food Truck.

Despite the challenges, some still expressed optimism. ‘We’re hopeful. We’re trying to manage expectations. Last year, thousands of people showed up. We expect a lower turnout, but people are excited,’ said Bri Maughan, executive director of the Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District.

The airshow continues on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. for those who missed Saturday’s performances.
