Robin Roberts Unveils New Broadcast Media Center at Southeastern Louisiana University
HAMMOND, La. — Good Morning America anchor and Southeastern Louisiana University alumna Robin Roberts unveiled the new Robin Roberts Broadcast Media Center at the university on Friday, October 17, 2025.
The center is part of an expansion that includes three broadcast media studios: a newsroom, a film studio, and a multimedia studio. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Roberts emphasized the importance of the facility and the future of its students.
“We want the best for you. The best is yet to come,” said Roberts, expressing her admiration for the new media center. “This building is stellar. It’s beautiful.” She noted that while the structure exceeded her expectations, the true value lies in the educators and students who will utilize it.
Roberts quoted her sister, WWL anchor Sally-Ann Roberts, saying, “Don’t let fear keep you from your destiny.” She also shared her own motto, “Dream big,” which is inscribed on the walls of the building, along with a quote from their mother: “Everybody has a gift. Discover yours and share it with the world.”
The new media center coincides with a significant expansion of the communication and media studies department’s curriculum. Southeastern President William S. Wainwright remarked, “The new facility greatly enhances the classroom and specialized lab space needed to provide modern instructional opportunities for our students.”
