Johnny Depp A Christmas Carol 2026

LOS ANGELES, CA — Johnny Depp is set to star as Ebenezer Scrooge in Paramount Pictures‘ upcoming film, ‘Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol.’ Directed by Ti West, the movie is planned for release on November 13, 2026.

This film is a new adaptation of Charles Dickens‘ classic tale, which tells the story of a miserly old man who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. The script has been written by Nathaniel Halpern, with Emma Watts producing the project.

Depp’s involvement comes after his recent legal battles, including a high-profile defamation lawsuit. Following his victory in 2022, the actor has been seeking major roles, and this film marks one of his largest opportunities in recent years. Known for his eccentric characters like Captain Jack Sparrow, the role of Scrooge suits Depp’s unique acting style.

Alongside Depp, Andrea Riseborough will also star in the film. Ti West, recognized for his success in the horror genre with films like ‘X’ and ‘Pearl,’ is making his major studio debut with this adaptation.

The film’s description indicates a thrilling ghost story set in Dickens’ London, focusing on Scrooge’s supernatural journey as he confronts his past, present, and future while striving for redemption.

Deppers’ representation includes Range Media Partners, while Riseborough is repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group, and Untitled. West is represented by CAA and LBI Entertainment.

This adaptation comes amidst another version of ‘A Christmas Carol’ being developed by Warner Bros., featuring Willem Dafoe in the role of Scrooge. The competition between these adaptations may pique audience interest in both films.
