Apple Releases tvOS 26 with Liquid Glass Design and New Features

Cupertino, California – Apple launched its highly anticipated tvOS 26 update on September 15, significantly enhancing its Apple TV set-top boxes. This update introduces several new features, the most notable being the Liquid Glass interface that freshens the overall look of the system.
With the release, Apple aims to unify the experience across its devices. The Liquid Glass design is available primarily for the second- and third-generation Apple TV 4K models, which were released in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Owners of older models, such as the Apple TV HD and first-generation 4K, will miss out on this update.
Among the standout features of tvOS 26 are the support for the PS5 DualSense controller, a new karaoke mode called Apple Music Sing, and enhanced Aerial screensavers. The update also allows users to pair wireless speakers through AirPlay, adding versatility for audio configurations.
Apple Music Sing allows an iPhone to act as a microphone, making it easier for users to sing along with their favorite songs. The feature pairs seamlessly with the new interface, and a dedicated selection of karaoke tracks is now available.
Apple’s updated Aerial screensavers now showcase stunning visuals from locations in India, including Goa and Kerala. Users can customize their screensaver preferences, opting to exclude collections they do not wish to see.
Despite the array of improvements, the integration of the Liquid Glass design has received mixed reviews, with some users expressing frustration over the new look of app icons on the home screen. Apple plans to continue refining these updates as developers adapt to the new features.
As tvOS 26 rolls out, users are encouraged to check for the update through the Settings menu. Apple has stressed that remaining connected to Wi-Fi is crucial during the update process.
