Baltimore Orioles’ Future Looks Promising Despite Tough 2025 Season

Baltimore, MD
The Baltimore Orioles face challenges during their 2025 season, but signs of a brighter future are emerging. Young talents like Samuel Basallo and Gunnar Henderson could lead the team back to contention as early as next season.
Mike Elias, the team’s general manager, remains optimistic about a swift recovery. According to Mark Feinsand of MLB Network, rival executives share his belief in the Orioles’ potential. A National League executive stated, “The Orioles are still in great shape organizationally. They have talent at the Major League level and a deep farm system.”
However, the team must address certain areas, such as improving their defense and adding pitching depth, to return to postseason contention. The executive emphasized, “If they can do that, they should be right back in postseason contention next year.”
As the season began, concerns about the Orioles’ pitching staff lingered. The team did not replace Corbin Burnes after he was traded to the Diamondbacks last offseason. Questions about whether Elias has learned from past mistakes remain, especially regarding the reliance on Grayson Rodriguez.
A late spring training injury kept Rodriguez sidelined, meaning he will not return until the next spring training. For the Orioles to succeed in the upcoming offseason, the front office must address the issues that arose this year. If they can secure pitchers like Dylan Cease or Framber Valdez for the rotation, the expectation for the team to turn things around from 2025 becomes realistic.
